06 / How you progress

Every run leaves you something

What makes you stronger between descents, with the game's own numbers.

  • 16 Armory

16 gear slots, 6 rarities and a 60-piece bag. Upgrade what you wear with gold and break down what you don't.

  • 14 Legendaries

One per slot, each with its own name. Every one breaks a rule of the game at a price.

  • 1 Set

The Echo, with 6 pieces and effects at 2, 4 and 6 worn.

  • 70 Max level

Your character climbs to level 70, and that is when high rifts open.

  • 60 Talents

Three branches of 20, each ending in its own capstone. There are not enough points for everything: you have to choose.

  • 13 Oaths

You wear 2 at a time: each gives an edge and charges a price. They are inscribed with gems.

  • 3 Tiers

Easy, Nightmare and Inferno: 30 campaign runs, with tougher enemies on the higher tiers.

  • 150 High rifts

They open at level 70 and run against a 4-minute timer. Level 150 is the end.

  • 16 Torments

They raise the toughness of normal rifts, and also the gold and experience.

08 / FAQ

What people usually ask before buying

Short answers, about what the game really does.

How long is a run?

An adventure run is one world: 15 floors, with a boss on 5, 10 and 15. A normal rift is a map of five rooms with no timer, and a high rift is played against a 4-minute timer. We give no figure in minutes for the adventure.

How long is the game?

The campaign is 30 runs: 10 worlds on each of the three tiers, Easy, Nightmare and Inferno. After that come the rifts up to high rift 150, the 16 Torments, Ascent, Mastery and the 34 achievements. We give no hours.

Do I need an internet connection?

Not to play solo: the game makes no network requests and carries no third-party SDK. Game Center, for achievements and leaderboards, needs you to be signed in on the iPhone; without a session the game works the same and simply uploads nothing. Co-op needs everyone on the same Wi-Fi.

Does it work on iPad?

Tarnix is made for iPhone only, in portrait, on iOS 17 or later. There is no iPad version today.

Will it come to Android, iPad, Mac or PC?

It is in our plans, with no date yet. We will announce it in the patch notes.

Does it have in-app purchases or ads?

No: it is a one-time purchase, with no in-app purchases and no ads. The game uses StoreKit only to ask, after a victory, for a rating through Apple's native sheet (Apple limits it to three times a year); there are no products and no store. The Path has no paid lane: all its rewards are collected by playing.

Where is my progress saved?

On your iPhone, with no account. Tarnix does not sync through iCloud or save games in Game Center, which only receives achievements and rift bests. An adventure in progress is saved at the start of every floor and when you leave the app; a rift is not saved: if you leave it, you lose what you had earned.

How does co-op work?

2 to 4 players on the same Wi-Fi network. Whoever hosts the game gives out its address and the others join with it; no account or Game Center is needed. Each player needs Tarnix on their own device, and everyone must be on the same version of the game. iOS will ask for local network permission: "To play together, Tarnix looks for other players on your network." It does not work outside the same network.

What happens if I die?

"Dying erases nothing: you keep your gold." You can revive by paying in-game gold, not real money; each revive costs twice the previous one.

How do I get heroes and weapons?

Heroes are bought with gems, which you earn by finishing new worlds and from rift milestones; weapons are bought with coins. The Herald can only be had by finishing The Path.

Are there leaderboards?

There are 5 in Game Center: High Rift for solo, duo, trio and squad, and "Race to Level 70" (the time it takes to reach level 70). Inside the game, Records shows your own bests.

Which languages does it have?

Spanish and English. By default it picks Spanish if the iPhone is set to Spanish and English in any other case; you can change it in Settings.

Does it have accessibility options?

Left-handed mode, rarity marks (one shape per rarity, on top of color) and settings to turn off screen shake, vibration, hit flashes and damage numbers.

09 / Privacy

Your game stays on your iPhone

There are no accounts and no servers of my own, and the app sends me no data. Game Center achievements and scores are stored by Apple. If something breaks, write to me and I will fix it.
